John Deere Birthday - August 13, 2012

Garrett celebrated his 3rd birthday on Saturday at Uncle Billy & Aunt Donna's house. We celebrated with lots of food and fun!
Grandma Jackson baked the John Deere Green cupcakes (Garrett's request ever since he had cupcakes at cousin Cambry's 1st birthday party). Grandma Nana frosted them with lemon yellow icing. Yum!
Garrett was excited to see his present from mommy & daddy: A John Deere Bicycle!

After cake & presents, we all headed outside and the kids took turns hitting the dump truck pinata Garrett picked out. I'm not sure who had more fun: the kids, or Uncle Billy!
(sorry I didn't get many good pics of the pinata action - I had a camera in one hand & camcorder in the other!)
The birthday fun was complete when all the cousins hit the pool.
What a fun & eventful day!

Garrett's actual birthday (August 13) was celebrated first at daycare, where he shared cupcakes with his friends. After daycare we had Garrett's birthday dinner at McDonald's with both Grandma's. When we got home, both boys were bathed & clothed in their favorite pj's, and then Garrett had a few more gifts to open.
A very rare opportunity - getting a pic of both boys, and they are both smiling!

Reece thought Garrett needed a little extra help.

I found one of Garrett's favorite daycare books: Farm, by Elisha Cooper.
To all my farm friends with kids/grandkids -  it's a FANTASTIC book!

Overall, I think Garrett had fun turning 3 & enjoyed the weekend-long celebration that accompanied the big event!!

Yellow Duckie Cookies

Last week Grandma Nana traveled north to Iowa with Uncle Dave. While there, they made the mandatory Casey's Bakery stop in Sioux Center. She couldn't resist picking up 2 yellow duckie sugar cookies for her 2 favorite little guys!

Not much of the actual cookie was consumed...but the frosting was WAY fun!

By the way, this isn't the first time Nana assisted in giving Garrett a sugar high. Check out THIS posting from 1 year ago...

Summertime Fun

Last fall my mom found a fun play cabin for the boys. It has traveled from her house to my brother's in the KC area, where it rested for around 8 months (while we were in transition)...and it finally made its way to our house last week. The boys think it's great! It was super-hot last weekend, so we got out Reece's water table he received for his birthday from Grandma Jackson, and then the boys played in the cabin while they dried off....

Yes, Garrett is dumping water on his brother's head...but Reece loved it!

Reece's Birthday July 11, 2012

Happy Birthday to Reece!
On Reece's actual birthday, we had a small celebration at home.

Reece had his favorite meal: Spaghetti!

We sang Happy Birthday and presented Reece with a birthday cupcake (on his new Elmo plate).

The cupcake had LOTS of frosting...which Reece quickly discovered he liked very much!

Garrett also enjoyed the frosting. I don't think he even ate any of the actual cake!

Happy Birthday Baby Boy!

Honoring Reece Allen Jackson (aka The Birthday Boy)

Rosalia, Kansas Community Center

All attendees were asked to sign Reece's commemorative birthday baseball when they arrived.

Grandma Jackson & Grandma Nana made this fantastic firecracker cake. The cake was red, white, and blue on the inside & out!

Here's the Birthday Boy's smash cake (more to come...).

Another view of the smash cake. In the background you can see one of Grandma Jackson's fabulous pies! She made an All-American-Apple & a Cherry pie to go along with the cake.

This is a banner Grandma Nana & I put together. It showcased a picture of Reece from each of his first 12 months.

Presents!

Big Brother Garrett especially enjoyed "helping" Reece open his gifts.

Now Reece has his own album to match Big Brother's! Thanks, Aunt Sandy...it's beautiful!

Somebody looks like he's up to something...

Time for cake!

Reece started out a bit cautious...

...but then he recalled how much fun frosting can be! (see previous post)

I think he found the center of the cake!

I failed to get photos of the clean-up...but it took around 15 minutes just to get through the frosting! It appears that he enjoyed his day...I hope all his family & friends who were here did too.
