Me at 32 Weeks!

Baby Shower

My Jackson Sisters-In-Law threw my first baby shower on Saturday (6/13), in Eudora, Kansas. It was a lovely shower, and so much fun to see friends and family members I haven’t seen in a while! Steve made the trip with me, and he had his own day out with his brothers & nephews as they made their way through Bass Pro Shops in Kansas City. After the shower we packed up the Jeep & made our way back to Iowa. It was a long day, but definitely one full of memories!!
Following are some candid pix taken throughout the day, along with pix of some gifts received...

Pete wore her beautiful crown just for me!

Week 31 Appointment

I had my week 31 checkup last Thursday (6/11). All is well so far. I did report to my doctor about the sciatic nerve pain that seems to be getting worse. Some days it’s fine, and others it feels like pain shooting from my lower back through my right leg. Apparently there’s not much that can be done for it…other than encourage little guy to move over & get off that nerve!!  I also told him that I’ve been experiencing heavy pressure in my lower abdomen. The doc’s response was that I’m probably experiencing Braxton hicks contractions…to which I think I responded with a bewildered look. Contractions!?! He reassured me that as long as they are occasional, and do not occur less than 10 minutes apart, it is totally normal. Still, hearing the word is yet another part of pregnancy that makes it all seem more real! Baby will be here soon!
We heard the heartbeat, I was measured (I’m up to 32 cm), and, because of the pain & pressure, I was given strict instructions to stay away from strenuous activity – including the treadmill – and to rest as much as possible. That’s all until our next appointment on the 25th!

Crib

Hello!
As you can see below, we finally have our crib! We got to pick it up on our anniversary (6/7), so that made it a fun day. It wasn’t too difficult to put together, and I LOVE the color! It matches the dark trim in the room, and looks great next to our denim blue walls.

Finished product:

The crib has a bar on the front that you can hang a quilt or blanket on. This quilt is similar to the one my Mom is making for baby, so it gives you an idea of the nursery colors. Mom bought this one for me a few years ago in Eureka Springs, Arkansas:
