enjoying the outdoors

Sunday's weather was beautiful! 80 degrees and just a slight breeze. We took advantage of the day & spent the afternoon outside.

Garrett enjoyed exploring around the property.
Cousins Heather, Kevin & DJ were working on Grandma's pond, so Garrett "helped" them by shoveling some dirt with DJ.
He also did some supervising while sitting in Uncle Billy's ATV. (Check out his new KU hat & replica jersey we picked up in Lawrence! KU was playing later in the afternoon, so Garrett was ready to cheer them on!)
Peek!
Reece also enjoyed the outdoors with daddy...
...and on the swing with Grandma.
Daddy & Garrett exploring.
I LOVE this picture. What a perfect end to a perfect afternoon!

Rock Chalk!...and a Birthday Cupcake!

On Saturday, Grandma, Garrett, Reece, and I traveled to Lawrence to celebrate my Great-Niece Cambry's 1st Birthday!
Before the party, we joined Uncle "Super Jim", Aunt Jodi, and cousins Emma & Rachel at Allen Fieldhouse on the KU campus. There is a terrific sports memorabilia museum located in front of the gymnasium...which provided for some fun photo opportunities!

Emma, Garrett & Rachel (Reece is in the carseat @ the front of the stroller) posing for a pic taken by Aunt Jodi.
Garrett took a time out of his running around to pose for a pic with me in front of an old KU mascot costume. Can't imagine putting that thing on & running around in front of a crowd!
Another Jayhawk...
Reece even posed for a pic with the Jayhawk! (check him out...he's saying "We're #1"!
This giant Jayhawk resembles the one on the KU basketball court.
Daddy wasn't able to join us on this trip...but we didn't forget him! Garrett posed in front of the track & field case for Daddy, which highlighted throwing events - his fave.

Of course, we did make it to the party...and Garrett enjoyed his cupcake. Well...at least the frosting part!

Look Who's Crawling!

Look out world! Reece is mobile!!
Reece started crawling this past weekend - and we are quickly learning the importance of putting our things away!
Once he gets his eyes set on something he wants, he's off! It doesn't take him long at all to get his hands on Garrett's favorite toys, our shoes, or Grandma's magazines (a favorite thing to chase after).

Now that he's got crawling figured out, I'm afraid it won't be long before he starts cruising along the furniture...and then walking on his own...and then running...oh my!

Recent snapshots of Garrett...

On our way to church!
Garrett & daddy playing around before church. I was attempting to get a pic of my handsome son & daddy poked his head over the sofa. Check out Garrett's shamrock-green K-State Wildcat shirt! Cousin Jeremy picked it up for him in Manhattan. I'm sure he's still a Jayhawk fan at heart...but he has to represent his Kansas teams!

Garrett discovered a new use for the Happy Meal box: A super-hero mask!Super (Silly) Garrett!!
I'm pretty sure Garrett hasn't changed religions...but kinda made me wonder when I spotted him with his bowl on his head!

Reece - March 2012

Recent snapshots of Reece...

Reece loves his books! (especially ones he can chew on!)

His little hands are always grabbing for things that other people have - like my camera. He especially likes to try to take anything Garrett is holding or playing with!
What are YOU looking at???

Reece was so alert and cute this morning with his bedhead, so I had to snap a few pictures to share!

If the shirt fits...

Both Reece & Garrett have received cute shirts that they have not been able to wear...until now!

Thanks to Uncle Larry & Aunt Judy for Garrett's space tee. He is finally big enough to wear it - plus the 70 degree weather made today the perfect time to dig it out!
Thank you to our friend, Sue, who gave Reece this little brother tee - can you believe he's wearing a 12 month shirt already?? (In my opinion, he looks too old in this picture.)
AND...
Look who wants to crawl! Reece is getting closer every day...I think all it will take is finding the perfect opportunity to get to one of Garrett's toys when he's not looking to get the full crawl in motion! SO...that means I'll be hiding the John Deere tractors tonight. I'm just not ready for my baby to be mobile!
